Imitation Activities

My goal in this course, and all my writing courses, is to teach students how to learn how to write. In other words, although we do focus on particular genres, I also ask students to consider what they would do if asked to write in a new context with no guidance. In the process, they also think about writing and reading experiences that were formative to them, reflecting on how they learn and what value or joy they find in writing. Here are a series of short answer activities I ask students to work through - sometimes in class and sometimes on their own - to begin thinking about imitation as a method for both learning and writing.
